I guess you blokes have to decide if you are going to race at all. In Victoria, Preston MCC has entries for their Modern Vic Champs at Broadford, Rnd 1 of 4 Rnds.

There has never been a cut off enforced for an Australian round therefore field is not limited. As for 1000 rule those not complying do not score points for National title but still compete for meeting trophies.I cant see the issue Angry Angry Angry Angry

The only thing we have on offer is darwin in april and queensland . There are no trophies and no prizemoney. There is another meeting with David White on thursday. If you make your on way to darwin you get free entry and garage .Everyone else pays.

With respect, the sideacr teams in my opinion are allowing the organisers to treat you like this.

Do you need approval to work with clubs and create your own series. the BEARS do it for solos and if you fully supported a set of meetings with your own points score I am sure you could get a result.
What about the Preston round at Phillip Island, An event at Winton, one at Goulburn if possible and then Mt Gambier and Broadford.
It may be a start, you could call it the East Coast Nationals 2010.

If you get agreeance next year head to WA.
Run a raffle to help you get to Perth and in the other years to get the Perth blokes to the East.

I've just got off the phone to Vince Messina , who talked to David White today, it looks like round 1 is at the Barry Sheene meeting, round 2 at Hidden Valley , ( subject to at least a 15 bike grid) and round 3 at Phillip Island details to follow
Travel assistance to get the machines to Hidden Valley and back to Melb or Sydney. Will post more info when I know about it

Hi Wayne, can I please have your mobile number? And can you please distribute the following:

Hello All,
Its been a while. Firstly, I would like to apologize for the lack of information regarding
the Australian Sidecar Championship for 2010.
Since the beginning of November last year, Shane Soutar and I have been run ragged from
various meetings with MA, ASBK, Phillip Island Motorsport etc..etc..
I won't comment fully at this stage, but I would like to categorically state that what
we have been through in the past three months will never happen again.

Basically, we have asked to run our own series with promoters who wish to have us and who
wish to treat us with some respect. This has led to many meetings with David White and
virtually hundreds of phone calls attempting to get an answer to our requests.
We had asked for approval to participate at the Barry Sheen meeting at Eastern creek in
April, the Darwin meeting in April (provided a reasonable offer for covering our costs was
made) and a meeting with Hartwell at Phillip Island in August.

In short it wasn't until Wednesday afternoon, Feb 17th that we had positive approval to
go ahead. Having said that, MA advised MA NSW that approval be granted to allow us to run at
the Barry Sheen meeting. This, unfortunately, has not been forthcoming for a number of
reasons those of which I am still trying to understand. As soon as these become clear, I
will advise.

At this stage, thanks to MA, we have now only a few days to respond to ASBK's offer to
participate at hidden valley. Those interested need to respond immediately so we can
evaluate if we have the numbers required.

1. Are you interested in racing at Hidden Valley NT on April 8-11?
This is the deal ASBK have put to us:

On the basis of 15 entries he is prepared to offer the following;
?  Free  entry to all sidecar competitors

?  Garages would have to be paid for

?  Practise would have to be paid for

?  Free freight from either Sydney or Melbourne

?  $400 freight subsidy for those not taking up the offer of the free freight

This would constitute the first round of the Australian Sidecar Championship series

If you are, or know of anyone who is, can you please advise urgently.

2. The remaining two rounds we will confirm over the next two or three weeks. Once again
apologies, but Shane and I have done all in our power to get to this thus far at this
ridiculously late stage.

3. We will be organizing the 2011 rounds immediately we have completed this years calendar.
We will be looking to have ourselves included in some high profile events, and move on from
this current circus.
4. Lastly, Steve Hutchinsons bike (Alvin 5) is up for sale. It is as raced by myself in 2008
where it placed second to Shane Soutar. It currently has a 1200 engine, which MAY be used
this year thanks to a discrepancy in the rule book. However, for the purchaser, I would
provide hands on assistance to install a 1000 cc engine for 2011. It's a great bike, and
I would like to see it stay in Australia. Please call or email me for complete details

 Thanks and Kind Regards

Darwin is OFF. Arider has been talking to an Official at IEG and they were told it was off. That rider then took it upon themself to ring a few riders and tell them it was off .That was not the fact . The whole deal was still being discussed with MA and IEG . The people who were called then pulled out of the meeting which left the numbers too low so we were then canned . Maybe the person should ring all the riders and explain how and when they got their information. Another so called expert butting in when they don't get all the facts . Chinese whispers again .Thanks to the rider for all your help .
You were the one who said to me when you were approached about the series that you were not going to ride at all in the series and would not have anything to do with another meeting if certain people were involved in the organising .So You have scuttled any of the work done by the people trying to get a series for the other real racers .
Maybe you could be the brains trust in future and do all the work! Best of luck .

OK, now let me try that again, this time with the date!

Hi Guys,

Once again, apologies for the delay in getting back to regards the 2010
Australian Sidecar Championship.

After waiting for two weeks for confirmation of the NT round, it was
decided
that due to timing and a few other issues, it was no longer possible to
provide a decent field for the Sidecar race.

Keeping in mind, that today marks exactly four weeks to the NT round and
we
still haven't had confirmation!

That's the bad news.

Now the good news.

It's the aim to have at least three rounds for this years
Championship.
Thursday, we were able to meet with Francis Conroy and Su Edwards
(Preston
MCC executive) and David White.

At this meeting, we were able to iron out the few difficulties in our
proposal to run with the Vic Championship round that Preston MCC is
holding
in May at PHILLIP ISLAND. Thanks must go to Chris Grubb here for
initiating
the proposal.

So, we are pleased to announce that our first round is as follows: F1
and F2

22nd - 23rd May Phillip Island Peter Stevens Motorcycles, 2010 Victorian
Motorcycle Roadrace Championship

inc The 1st round of the Australian Sidecar Championship

Preston will release all supp regs and entry forms for the event
shortly.
Now, please note the following as it is important.

Due to the fact that we have wasted months and have imposed ourselves on
Preston MCC at the last minute, they cannot change the order and classes
for
this meeting.

The plan is to have three races (one Saturday, two Sunday) but with some
of
the older class sidecars as well. They will have to meet the 115%
cutoff,
and it should be noted, that we argued for this rather than the 110%
cutoff
normally required.

This will pose some issues for officials and competitors. We are hoping
that
given its Phillip Island and a wide circuit, and given that we are being
greatly assisted by Preston MCC and do not wish to disadvantage their
regular sidecar competitors, WE can make this work. So I would suggest
those
of you who have lobbied to race your older machines (Neil!)in the
Australian
Championship, get organized, this is your one shot at the "I could
have been
a contender" moment. It should be noted that the rules pertaining
to OIL
CATCH TRAYS in MA's motorcycle manual will be strictly enforced.
Capacity is
per Preston Class rules.

HOWEVER, for any future rounds, the Australian Sidecar Championship will
have its own race category.

We know we can't please everybody, but it's the best we can do
given the
grief that surrounds us at the moment. Shane and I will endeavour to
provide
information from here on end for the remaining rounds. We have a number
of
choices, so this should be regarded as our building year. I've said
it
before and I'll say it again, we only have ourselves to support, and
ourselves to blame if we don't. So LETS MAKE IT WORK.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Vincent Messina and Shane Soutar

While I'm disappointed in not going to Darwin, at this late stage it was getting more difficult ( booking flights, organising transport for the bike etc) . We've got the first round organised, a good start, and lets hope we can get the next 2 rounds happening. I for one appreciate the efforts made by Vince and Shane in trying to keep our championship alive.
With that positive news, I'm feeling better about going testing tomorrow
